The Internet Driving Record Request service allows North Carolina citizens to purchase a North Carolina driving record on line. A North Carolina driving record is a true representation of a driving history as it appears in the official records on file at the Division of Motor Vehicles. The requestor and the licensee must have been issued a North Carolina driver license in order to obtain access to a driving record online.
The driving record contains the following pertinent information:
Driver license status and expiration date
Convictions of the licensee
Driver control actions
Traffic accidents in which the licensee was involved
It should be noted that any pending charges do not appear on North Carolina driving records.
The information appearing on a driving record is subject to change due to convictions, suspensions, revocations or cancellations.
North Carolina offers two types of driving records through the Internet:
Certified Driving Records: Primarily used for official and court purposes. DMV will mail this record to you within 10 business days. The cost is $11.
Non-Certified Driving Records: Primarily used for personal or informational purposes.
This type of driving record is available to you at the conclusion of this transaction and must be printed
by you or can be stored on your personal computer. The cost is $8.
For each driving record you request, you MUST have the following information exactly as it appears on DMV records:
